The Organizational Resilience and Impact Fund
Overview
The Organizational Resilience and Impact Fund (ORIF) strengthens the health and sustainability of nonprofit organizations across California as they navigate and adapt to a rapidly evolving external environment. ORIF provides coordinated technical assistance and, if necessary, one‑time implementation resources to support organizational safety, security, and resilience.
After a successful trial period, ORIF officially launched in September 2026. ORIF is run by a small team with backing from its fiscal sponsor, Assets Under Movement. ORIF is partnering with a group of Technical Assistance (TA) Providers, who are experts in digital security, crisis communications, and organizational stabilization. ORIF also has relationships with other TA Providers that can offer other kinds of support as needed (e.g., physical security).
What services does ORIF provide to California nonprofits (and their leaders/staff)?
Coordinated access and ongoing support, including a streamlined entry point, and continued engagement throughout the assessment and service delivery process.
Responsive and tailored technical assistance, including hands-on support across digital and physical security, crisis communication, and other organizational stabilization needs.
Targeted support and flexible funding through one-time grants to help cover costs tied to risk mitigation, organizational stabilization, or other recovery-related needs.
Who is eligible to receive support from ORIF?
To receive support from ORIF, an organization must:
Be a California-based nonprofit.
Face urgent credible or possible threats to its safety and security and/or that of its leaders and staff, including digital or physical security, crisis communications, and organizational destabilization (e.g., severe financial disruption, threats to tax-exempt status, significant reputational damage).
Play a key role in the ecosystem in which it operates (e.g., other organizations depend on them as a fiscal sponsor or a hub for coordination, they play a unique role that no other organization can easily fill, etc.).
Serve underserved or vulnerable populations in California.
How can an organization receive support from ORIF?
All prospective applicants must start by filling out an intake form on ORIF’s website. They will receive an initial response within three to five business days. In an urgent situation, they will hear back from ORIF within 24 to 48 hours.
If an applicant does not meet ORIF’s eligibility criteria and/or if their needs are not aligned with the support ORIF provides, they will receive a list of resources and referrals. If their circumstances change, they are welcome to submit a new intake form to ORIF in the future.
